About armenia-spirit.com

armenia-spirit.com is an independent travel guide to Armenia, published by Agence Xen in Geneva, Switzerland. We do not sell tours of our own. We earn a small commission when readers book activities through partner links — that is the entire revenue model, and it never changes what we recommend.

The editor

Editorial direction is led by Patrick Khachatryan, an Armenian-Swiss travel publisher who has spent the better part of a decade visiting the country, criss-crossing the marzes by marshrutka and rental car, sleeping in monastery guesthouses, drinking too much Areni Noir, and watching the country's tourism scene evolve out of the post-2018 reset. The site is shaped by what we wished we had on hand when planning our own trips — and what the diaspora friends and family who pass through Switzerland keep asking about before they board their flight to Yerevan.

Patrick writes from Geneva, edits with an Armenian translator network, and travels back at least twice a year to update the guides against ground truth.

Why we built this

Armenia is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cultures on the planet and an underexplored destination on the English-language travel web. Most coverage is shallow, dated, or focused on a single city. We wanted a planner that goes province by province (marz by marz), monastery by monastery, and is published in eight languages — including for the diaspora that may be coming home for the first time. Our companion site georgia-spirit.com covers Georgia, the natural cross-border extension.

How we work

Every guide is written by humans with editorial direction from a native traveler, fact-checked against primary sources (museums, government tourism bodies, operators on the ground), and re-reviewed each season. The factual sections (dates, prices, transport times, opening hours, GYG inventory) are versioned with a `lastReviewed` field shown at the top of each page. If you spot something out of date, write to us at agencexen@gmail.com — we patch on a rolling basis.

Tour links route through GetYourGuide because they are the only operator with broad enough Armenia coverage to make the model work, and because their free-cancellation policy is friendly to readers who plan months ahead.

Editorial independence

No operator pays us to feature them. No hotel comps the team. We never accept "review" trips in exchange for coverage. If a tour is bad we either omit it or say so. The honesty bias is what we trade against the SEO-friendly fluff that dominates most travel publishing.

Where we publish from
